Short-Term Boarding Policies & Equine Liability Release

Know before you stop.

To ensure the safety and well-being of every horse passing through Honeycutt Trail Stops, please carefully review our short-term boarding policies and equine liability release prior to reserving a stop. Submitting an inquiry constitutes acknowledgment of these terms.

Boarding Policies

  • Health Documentation

A current negative Coggins test is strictly required for every horse arriving at a Trail Stop. Up-to-date vaccinations (including EEE/WEE, Rabies, West Nile, and Rhino/Flu) are also required. Please text or email copies of your certificates to the host prior to arrival at 865-712-7255.

  • Feed & Equipment

Riders may supply their own feed, hay, feed buckets, and tack. If a rider chooses not to, Honeycutt Trail Stops will provide feed, hay, and basic equipment at an additional fee. Shared tack storage is available, but the facility is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged equipment.

  • Stall & Turnout Care

Short-term board includes a clean stall on arrival and daily monitoring. Riders are responsible for their horse's grooming, blanketing, and any medical administration. Stalls should be stripped and cleaned prior to checkout; a $50 stripping fee will be charged if a stall is left unclean. Any damage to fencing, stalls, or facilities caused by a horse is the financial responsibility of the owner.

  • Reservation & Notice

Stops are reserved in advance and confirmed subject to availability. Daily and weekly rates are due upon arrival. Trailer storage during your stay is available for $25 a night. Cancellations within 48 hours of arrival may forfeit the reservation fee.

  • Equine Liability

Horses are inherently unpredictable animals. Under Tennessee law (T.C.A. § 44-20-101), an equine activity sponsor or equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities. Riders assume all liability for the safety, health, and behavior of their livestock while on the premises.

Equine Activity Liability Release, Waiver, and Assumption of Risk

IMPORTANT NOTICE: BY SUBMITTING A RESERVATION INQUIRY AND BOARDING A HORSE AT HONEYCUTT TRAIL STOPS, YOU ARE AGREEING TO WAIVE CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE FOR INJURY, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.

This Equine Activity Liability Release, Waiver, and Assumption of Risk (the "Agreement") is entered into by and between the horse owner/rider (referred to as "Rider," "I," "me," or "my") and Honeycutt Trail Stops / the Property Owners (referred to as the "Facility," "we," "us," or "our") regarding the short-term boarding, care, and use of the barns, stalls, paddocks, and nearby trail access (the "Premises").

1. Statutory Tennessee Warning & Acknowledgment

Under Tennessee Code Annotated Title 44, Chapter 20, equine activity sponsors and professionals are not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities. I acknowledge that I have reviewed and understand the official statutory warning guidelines.

2. Inherent Risks of Equine Activities

I understand that no equine activity is completely risk-free. Equines can behave in unpredictable ways, especially when frightened, hurt, or startled. I acknowledge that inherent risks include but are not limited to: kicking, biting, bolting, rearing, stumbling, falling, and the unpredictability of an animal's reaction to weather, terrain, sound, movement, or unfamiliar objects.

3. Assumption of Risk and Release

I expressly assume all responsibility for any injury, death, or property damage — to myself, my horse, or any third party — resulting from equine activities on the Premises, and release the Facility from liability to the maximum extent permitted under Tennessee law.

4. Rider Responsibilities

Short-Term Boarding Only: The Facility provides a clean stall, turnout, and daily monitoring, but is not a veterinary provider. I remain solely responsible for my horse's veterinary care, farrier care, and specialized needs. I accept the facilities "as-is" and assume financial responsibility for any damage caused by my horse.

5. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee.
