Know before you board.
To ensure the safety and well-being of every horse at Honeycutt Pastures, please carefully review our boarding policies and equine liability release prior to requesting a spot. Submitting an inquiry constitutes acknowledgment of these terms.
Boarding Policies
Health Documentation
In compliance with Tennessee law and local trail safety, a current negative Coggins test is strictly required for every horse entering the property. A current EIA test and up-to-date vaccinations (including EEE/WEE, Rabies, West Nile, and Rhino/Flu) are also required. Please text or email copies of your certificates to the host prior to arrival at 865-712-7255.
Feed & Equipment
Boarders may supply their own feed, hay, feed buckets, and specialized tack. If a boarder chooses not to, Honeycutt Pastures will provide feed, hay, and basic equipment at an additional fee. Please ensure all feed is kept in secure, rodent-proof containers. Shared tack storage is available, but the facility is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged equipment.
Stall Maintenance & Care
Stall board includes daily stall cleaning and turnout. Field board horses are checked daily and provided hay as needed. Boarders are responsible for any special grooming, blanketing, or medical administration. Any damage to fencing, stalls, or facilities caused by a horse will be the financial responsibility of the owner.
Boarding Agreement & Notice
A signed boarding contract is required prior to move-in. Board is due on the first of each month. A 30-day written notice is required to vacate. Past-due accounts may result in a lien on the horse per Tennessee agister's lien statutes (T.C.A. § 66-29-101).
Equine Liability
Horses are inherently unpredictable animals. Under Tennessee law (T.C.A. § 44-20-101), an equine activity sponsor or equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities. Boarders assume all liability for the safety, health, and behavior of their livestock while on the premises.
Equine Activity Liability Release, Waiver, and Assumption of Risk
IMPORTANT NOTICE: BY SUBMITTING A BOARDING INQUIRY AND BOARDING A HORSE AT HONEYCUTT PASTURES, YOU ARE AGREEING TO WAIVE CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE FOR INJURY, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
This Equine Activity Liability Release, Waiver, and Assumption of Risk (the "Agreement") is entered into by and between the horse owner (referred to as "Owner," "I," "me," or "my") and Honeycutt Pastures / the Property Owners (referred to as the "Facility," "we," "us," or "our") regarding the boarding, care, and use of the barns, pastures, paddocks, and arena (the "Premises").
1. Statutory Tennessee Warning & Acknowledgment
Under Tennessee Code Annotated Title 44, Chapter 20, equine activity sponsors and professionals are not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities. I acknowledge that I have reviewed and understand the official statutory warning guidelines.
2. Inherent Risks of Equine Activities
I understand that no equine activity is completely risk-free. Equines can behave in unpredictable ways, especially when frightened, hurt, or startled. I acknowledge that inherent risks include but are not limited to: kicking, biting, bolting, rearing, stumbling, falling, and the unpredictability of an animal's reaction to weather, terrain, sound, movement, or unfamiliar objects.
3. Assumption of Risk and Release
I expressly assume all responsibility for any injury, death, or property damage — to myself, my horse, or any third party — resulting from equine activities on the Premises, and release the Facility from liability to the maximum extent permitted under Tennessee law.
4. Owner Responsibilities
Facility Boarding Only: The Facility provides pasture turnout, shelter, and daily monitoring, but is not a veterinary provider. I remain solely responsible for my horse's veterinary care, farrier care, and specialized needs. Condition: I accept the facilities "as-is" and assume financial responsibility for any damage caused by my horse.
5. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee.
